We lost a good friend this week.

Brewster was eleven years old when he was surrendered to our shelter in 2011. His goofy grin and sweet nature captured our hearts immediately and we all thought he would be adopted right away. But Brewster had health issues, arthistis and cancer, that made it harder for him to find a home. Added to that, he had a minor bite on his record and didn't do so well with cats. We treated him for his arthritis, tackled the cancer and placed him in a loving foster home with the wonderful Tanya Petrovna. Tom Lavin, Elizabeth Arvahi, Sam Dureas and other dedicated volunteers continued to visit him at his foster home to walk him. Brewster loved kids and enjoyed watching them play in the park near his foster home. He also relished a cool drink from the drinking fountain near the skate park and cold watermelon rinds on a hot day.

In February 2014 Brewster was adopted by Sam and took off for his fabulous forever home in Kanab, Utah where Sam has a second home. Brewster has spent the last couple of years living the best life a dog could wish for. He had a huge yard with a gorgeous mountain view, other dogs to keep him company, and plenty of belly rubs and kisses every day.

Brewster, we loved you. You mattered. And you will be missed, old friend.
