Day at Shelter

Live your best life in 2019 when you adopt!

All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped! Adoption fees are donations that result in us being able to provide compassionate care to all animals as the only municipal shelter operating under the No-Kill philosophy in Coachella Valley!

Meet Our Animals

Donations make all the difference

Every dollar you donate improves the more than 4,000 animals' lives we help each year. Your support goes to a variety of life-saving and life-improving programs, from medical needs that rehabilitate them,  programs like TLC that trains volunteers to socialize fearful dogs or TNR that helps spay/neuter and reduce overpopulation with cats. The benefits for our homeless pets are endless, and for our donors it's tax deductible and a wise investment in the betterment of our Palm Springs community. You're also supporting the only public shelter in Coachella Valley operating with the No-Kill philosophy and helping light a path for all our shelters to become No-Kill. Can you help us in our life-saving mission to help our animals?

Mature and Suave

Stefan is a sweet senior with a laid-back style. This fella adores being combed and he'll relax into a puddle of purrs. Silly cat hats? Oh, yeah! Once this guy's spotted coat is photo-ready, he's all set for costume changes. Come in today and discover the show stopping, sugarplum ways of Stefan.

The neighborhood cats you see around Palm Springs are often homeless, sometimes abandoned by their previous owners. Many are offspring of these forgotten felines. While some are like our household companion cats, approachable and friendly, most have had little or no contact with humans and are fearful of people, and therefore cannot be adopted out as pets. Palm Springs is estimated to have over 4,000 homeless cats. You can help manage the homeless cat population by participating in our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. TNR is humane and effective. It ends reproduction, stabilizes and reduces feral cat populations, improves cats’ lives, and reduces our annual intake of kittens at our shelter. The alternative method, removing cats from a neighborhood by killing them, is not only cruel—it is illegal — and it doesn’t work.

Palm Springs Animal Shelter is the only public shelter in the Coachella Valley operating under the no-kill philosophy. We are managed and operated by Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter a 501(c)(3) organization (TAX ID 33-0731853) dedicated to responsible pet stewardship and the humane treatment of animals. We depend on our community to adopt, foster, volunteer, donate, and most of all, to believe that together, we can save lives.
